Bite & facial structure

Some problems live deeper than crooked teeth: how the bite closes, how the jaws relate, how muscles, medical conditions or habits can affect facial structures, and the face it all sits in. This is the work that an orthodontic specialist should do, and it is work Dr. Khan plans carefully and explains plainly.

I had major top and bottom jaw surgery over the last year, and let me tell you, I would not have gotten exemplary care anywhere else besides Dr. Kahn’s office. The staff are all very friendly and I really felt welcome whenever I had an appointment. Saying I am pleased with the results of the orthodontic work would be an understatement.

I am a 28 year old man, however I saw doctor give me the same attention as her youngest and oldest patients. Anytime I had complications with my braces/retainers, I was quickly helped and got back on track to healing.

Thank you for everything Santa Monica Orthodontics!!!

Dr. Khan is fantastic! As an adult, my teeth started moving inward and when I smiled, you didn’t see much of my teeth. It made my face look sunken in. Dr. Khan fixed my smile with spectacular results!
During my initial consultation, Dr Khan was very straight forward, and there were no high-pressure tactics. She explained that braces would yield the best results. (She also offers Invisalign). Fortunately, Dr. Khan offers ceramic braces, which are practically clear. When my braces came off, the results were better than I imagined!! I love my new smile and even though, I had braces as a child, my smile has never looked better!!! Also, Dr. Khan is a wonderful person, a perfectionist when it comes to fine tuning and her staff is the best! Dr. Khan works with kids and adults. I highly recommend selecting Dr. Khan as your orthodontist.

Planning

The whole picture, on one screen.

Digital records of the teeth and the bite, so what is being planned is visible to you as well as to her.

What this covers

This is the structural work — how the upper and lower jaws relate to each other and to the face — rather than the alignment of teeth alone.

It includes growth guidance in children, bite correction in teens and adults, and complex cases planned alongside oral and maxillofacial surgeons if surgery is part of the plan.

How complex surgical cases are planned

Complex cases begin with records: imaging, scans, photographs, and models that let the whole picture be studied and evaluated rather than guessed at.

Dr. Khan plans the orthodontic sequence and coordinates directly with your surgeon or specialist so the steps line up. Her background in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, and her treatment of surgical cases at Loma Linda where she serves as clinical faculty, is the reason these cases are welcomed here rather than referred out.

A story

One of the practice's most meaningful cases is told in Violet's story.
