Her approach
Dr. Rehana Khan brings more than 25 years of orthodontic experience to patients and families in Downtown Los Angeles. She provides personalized treatment for children, teens, and adults, with a focus on making excellent orthodontic care understandable, comfortable, and accessible.
Every patient’s situation is different. Dr. Khan carefully evaluates the teeth, bite, facial balance, growth pattern, and individual concerns before creating a treatment plan. She does not believe in unnecessary complexity or recommending the same appliance for everyone. Depending on the patient’s needs, treatment may include early Phase I care, traditional braces, clear braces, or Invisalign® and other clear-aligner options. Her goal is to recommend the most practical treatment that can deliver a healthy bite and a confident, natural-looking smile.
Training
Doctor of Dental Surgery, Loma Linda University School of Dentistry (2002); Master of Science in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Loma Linda University (2005), with the twenty-seven-month advanced programme in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics completed the same year — where she currently serves as clinical faculty in the department of orthodontics. Before dentistry, a Bachelor of Social Work from Wheelock College, Boston.
The practice
She has practised since 2005 and opened her own practice in Santa Monica in 2009 — children, teens, and adults — and now also sees patients Downtown.
What she does differently
Dr. Khan is particularly skilled at finding straightforward solutions for patients who have been told that their only options are extractions, jaw surgery, or complicated treatment. Although those approaches are sometimes necessary, she carefully explores less invasive possibilities whenever it is clinically appropriate. She also works efficiently, accomplishing as much as possible at each appointment while never compromising the quality of care.
Patients appreciate Dr. Khan’s warmth, honesty, and hands-on approach. She personally checks every patient and pays close attention to the small details that make the difference between teeth that are simply straighter and a smile that is truly well finished. Her background in social work helps her connect with people of different ages, cultures, and comfort levels, including patients who may feel nervous or self-conscious about orthodontic treatment.
Teaching, and a background in social work
Dr. Khan also teaches at Loma Linda University, sharing the knowledge and clinical judgment she has developed over decades of practice. At Los Angeles Orthodontics, her mission is simple: to provide individualized, high-quality orthodontic care with clear communication, respectful treatment choices, and financial options designed to help more families move forward with care.
